November 6, 2007 Tuesday morning and it's cold and rainy. Today is a kick back day, give Valley a bath and a shave hopefully, but not unless it warms up some.
ReCap Time:
Sunday morning we ended up having breakfast right here at Thousand Trails, the last meal they were fixing until next March, the seasons done now. We got to look at the local newspaper and it reported that they had 100 thousand people at the Oyster Festival between Friday and Saturday, I told you there were tons of people. Last year they had 65 Thousand so this thing is really growing. After breakfast we headed into Gloucester, VA and walked around old town and checked out the visitors center. The lady there had suggested we check out Matthew too to see a small town that is really rural plus they have a lighthouse there we could see. We drove to Matthew, which was a long ways, and we didn't think the town was that small, well spread out though. While taking pictures of the lighthouse a guy on a kayak came riding in and had been out there fishing, caught tons of fish too. He is a school teacher in Gloucester and told us about Jamestown and Williamsburg, how to get there, things to see ect.
Monday we drove into Jamestown. We 1st went to Colonial National Historical Park Jamestown, hung out there for awhile. We then went to a glass blowing shop and watched the demos there then headed to Jamestown Settlement. This whole Jamestown thing is a really big deal right now because they are celebrating their 400 anniversary, remember the Queen came here back in April. Anyway, the Settlement we ran out of time to see everything, we should have gone there 1st. We still have to do Williamsburg and I'll tell you I have had enough history to last me the rest of my life. On our drive back I saw a sign for a Peanut Factory Tour, now that's my kind of history.
