Back in Bakersfield / Sad News about Valentine

We made it back to Bakersfield on Friday afternoon, hit a little wind on the drive but not bad at all. We stopped in Baker and had lunch at another of Guy Fieri's recommendation. The Mad Greek, good food worth stopping if you are on your way to or from Vegas.

When we got hooked up I started cleaning, boy was the place dirty. Dave took off to look to see if AK Pressure was around, they wash the RV's in the park. He was gone long enough that when he got back I was done cleaning, boy good planning Dave. :) He never found AK Pressure so called and we have an appointment for washing on Monday morning. The RV Park was just about full, another Rally going on, Alfa's and they are expecting about 120 rigs plus the 1st row, the pull-thru's, were full of RV's with trailers attached. Inside the trailers are Street Rods, big show at the Fair Grounds this weekend, 2000 street rods were suppose to be there, god knows where all the people stayed.

Saturday we went over to Kim and Danny's to start working on moving the storage sheds, I believe I mentioned before that Kim wants the 2 sheds gone and wants it all cement. When we got there Danny told me that Valley has been having accidents, bladder and bowel mishaps. It had happened a couple times before we left but was hoping it would clear up. Valley had moved back in with Kim a couple months ago because of the tumor on her leg. She could no longer get out of the RV. Anyway, in the last 2 days Valley had left a small bowel drop and Miss Madison stepped on it, can't have that because she grabs her feet and puts them in her mouth. The next day Danny got off the couch and Valley had just gotten up and there was a big puddle and of course Danny stepped in it, I just hope Danny doesn't still put his feet in his mouth. :) After hearing that I then noticed Valley get up and go to her pillow and start licking herself, there it was the puddle she left in the other room. She knows she does it and leaves right away to clean herself up. Needless to say after finishing moving 1 shed we left and took Valley with us and went straight to the vets. It was so hard because she still had so much life left in her but couldn't have her doing things like what she was doing in the house with Madison. She was also having some problems with the tumor in her nose and the tumor on her leg, I couldn't watch her suffer anymore. She was the best dog we have ever had and all day today I have been getting email's from friends who have met her and they were very sad to hear the news.

Today Dave, Danny and I got the other shed moved, so now we start on getting out the rest of the brick then get ready to pour cement. You know how it goes "What ever Kim wants, Kim gets". (from Damn Yankee's What ever Lola wants Lola gets)

Forgot to mention when we got to Kim and Danny's Miss Madison had a look like "who are these people" we were only gone 2 weeks. It didn't take her long to remember but what is going to happen once we move to Arizona, only time will tell.

Landed in St. George, Utah

We had a great time in Albuquerque at "The Rally", of course purchased stuff we just couldn't live without. We also had fun going to 3 out of 4 restaurants that Guy Fieri, from Diners Drive-ins and Dives, had recommended. We left on Monday and drove to Monument Valley Tribal Park in Utah. What a great place to stay, at night the stars where out but the people around us weren't too happy because we had our generators running, we were dry camping and needed to charge up our batteries. Forgot to mention, on our way to Monument Valley we made a side trip to Four Corners, Dave had never been there. That's where you stand in the middle and you are in 4 different states at once. Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. In the morning a herd of sheep and goats went running thru the parking area being hered by 2 cattle dogs, very neat to see. We drove the car to Mexican Hat Town then went off roading to see Mexican Hat Rock. After that we drove a 17 mile dirt road thru Valley of the Gods, what great weather we had and beautiful scenery. When we got back we packed up and headed for Page, AZ. Wednesday we drove to Lake Powell and walked around on the pier and checked out the houseboats. Late yesterday we landed in St. George and got set up at the Elks Lodge. Tonight we are going to a restaurant called Cosmopolitan with Aunt Evelyn and Linda.

We will be heading back to Bakersfield 1st thing in the morning, it will be nice again to have full hook ups, plus this RV really needs to be cleaned after all this travel.

Back on the Road

We are getting back on the road to New Mexico today, we were hoping to leave yesterday but the winds were blowing about 50mph and there was no way Linda or Dave wanted to drive in that. We accomplished a lot while we were here, yesterday we purchased our bedroom set, two recliners, a love seat, entertainment center and our dining room table w/chairs. We really shopped around and took pictures in different stores in Phoenix, we went there with Linda to have lunch with some friends of hers on Tuesday. When Dave and I went to the local furniture store in Cottonwood they could order all the stuff we liked plus it was a good thing I took pictures because they matched all the prices too. We got all that stuff for 4,400, I thought we would be spending around 10K but we really bargained with them, we haven't gotten the big screen TV yet or the spare bedroom stuff, we will do that when we move here.
We ended up on Monday moving from 1000 Trails to Dead Horse State Park and parked right across the street from Linda, since we are car less we wanted to make it easier on her since she is stuck with us tagging along with her.

Posted new pics some are of the furniture we purchased.

Happy Easter, Happy 9 mo b/day to Madison

Here is a picture of the bed we picked out for the spare bedroom in Cornville, AZ. :). It should work for all the Granddaughters, if thier parents come too they can stay in the office.
Just kidding, but it does look like a bed Miss Madison, Bryauna, Jayden or Riley would like.

And speaking of Miss Madison isn't that a great picture of her. I'm so proud of myself for taking such a good picture.

We left Thursday around 6pm and arrived in Kingman, where we met up with Linda, around 12:20am. Dave drove 1st then Danny drove, Danny did a good job. Kim said it was the 1st time she ever saw Danny have 2 hands on the steering wheel. It was dark when he was driving and he knew driving out in the desert anything or should I say any animal that runs in front of you, hit it, don't even try to avoid it in the motor home. Thank goodness nothing ran out on the road. The only other thing was not reading the road signs, like when you are going down hills, if it's a 6% grade or whatever. I was sitting on the couch, Kim was co-pilot, and Dave was laying on the bed, and I saw the sign and asked Danny what was the percentage of the grade we were going down and he said he never saw the sign and Kim said she didn't have her glasses on so she couldn't read it. We started going faster so we knew we had to put our exhaust brake on but I couldn't remember which button it was. Danny said "Jeri, stop and think, which button is it" I couldn't get up because I had Miss Madison in my arms so I yelled for Dave. Dave got up and showed Danny which button it was and everything worked out fine. Danny asked me later if we would let him borrow the motor home now, I asked Dave and he said he would trust Danny with it. So Danny I guess that's a yes, but you are the only one that can drive it, not any of your buddies on your way to Vegas!
Back to our travels. We left Love's Gas Station in Kingman at 5:30am and arrived at Thousand Trails about 9am, Linda went on to the State Park in Cottonwood we would get together later in the day. We set up then we had to get going because we had a 10:30 appointment to inspect the rental house in Cottonwood. At 11 we had to be at the Cornville house, the one we are moving into. Kim and Danny liked the 1st house, but they really liked the Cornville house, Kim was like "Mom, this house is great, the kitchen is so big plus it has an island in the middle of it." The only thing is we have to put a fence in the backyard because it's like a 8ft drop. Kim said Madison can't go into the backyard because it's all rocks and she will put them in her mouth. After the inspections we drove to Sedona and got a rent a car and had lunch, we were all starving by then. We headed back to the coach, then Kim and Danny left for Prescott while Dave and I watched Madison. When they got back we met up with Linda for dinner around 7pm, then headed back to the coach, we were all beat but didn't get to bed until after 10pm.
Kim, Danny and Miss Madison headed home around 9am, they hit snow in Flagstaff then rain and high winds so they had an interesting drive back to Bakersfield, they made it safe and that's all we cared about. Dave and I drove to Phoenix to drop off some boxes then went to Prescott to look at new furniture for the Cornville house. I posted new pictures and in there are 2 of the couches that we looked at and liked. Today, Easter Sunday, we will have breakfast at the lodge here in 1000 Trails and then just hang out, maybe go out and see if Senator John McCain is home, since he lives in Cornville and we will be neighbors soon, maybe talk about doing BBQ's together.

Happy Easter to everyonePosted by Picasa

RV Mishap

We had another mishap in the RV the other day. It was at night, Dave was napping in front of the TV and I got up and walked to the back of the RV. When I stepped into the bathroom area the floor was wet, I got out a towel cussing out our new steam mop because the water isn't suppose to leak out when it's not in use. I picked up the steamer and dumped out the rest of the water that was still in it, OK no big deal. I then did the dinner dishes and cleaned the counter, running water while cleaning the sink ect. I sit back down, watch a little TV then get up to go to the bathroom. This time the floor has a big puddle, and the rugs are wet, I think, Oh shit, I start yelling to wake Dave up, he jumps up and comes running, then I opened up the shower door. The water is coming out of the shower, well, earlier in the day we had dumped the black tank and when you do this you close the grey valve. Since we forgot to reopen the grey that is what was coming out of the shower, grey water thank god not black. It's both of our faults but mainly Dave's because he was trying to show me how to dump the tanks and he just forgot that one step, reopening the grey valve. Why show me how to dump the tanks anyway, I'm never going to do it and he knows that.

We are leaving tonight for Kingman then finish up the drive to Cottonwood tomorrow morning. This should be fun, 4 adults and Miss Madison, no way the dogs are coming they can survive a day without food.

Happy belated birthday to Marty and belated 30th Anniversary to Marty and Dayna.

Album and Blog Update

I just posted new pictures on my album, Dave's door repair, Madison's 1st dog show, and some pics of her working with the RV Camp host, Grandpa. So since I finally posted new pictures I should do a quick update.
The 28th of March, Dave and I took Miss Madison on our 1st outing together, Danny was studying for school and Kim was working. We went to a Dog Show, which was pretty interesting for me but boring for Dave. I love dogs and could stayed and watch all day but after seeing a few dogs walk around and being judged Dave was, let's move on. We stayed and watched the Cattle Dogs a little bit, only because that's what Kim had and has, plus, Valley has Cattle Dog in her too.

Sunday, 3/29, David Jr. and Jodi drove up to see the Laker's game with Danny, see Madison, and also go to dinner with us to celebrate Kim's birthday and our 31st anniversary. Jodi didn't care about the Laker's game she had a great time with Madison, too bad the Laker's lost that day.
We had a great dinner together and Madison was good as normal, Thank you guys for the dinner, it was just too bad neither Kim or David could remember how many years we have been married. April 1st, 1978

That's about it for now, we leave Thursday night for Arizona.
