Well today is Tuesday, June 27th and I should be posting updates again.
Today is Riley's, David Jr.'s step daughter's birthday, so we want to wish her Happy Birthday. She is having a party this Sunday, July 2nd but we can't make it.

This last week the drywaller came by, a person the plumber recommended, but the job was to big for him. He only likes to do patch jobs, what the hell is that all about, Dave could do the patch work we sure wouldn't hire someone for that. Anyway, he gave us a name of someone else so Dave called him and he came by Saturday afternoon and he will do the drywall work tomorrow, Wednesday, starting between 7 and 8 am, needless to say Kim and Danny are really happy about that. Oh well, it's all about making the house that they live in a lot better.

Last Friday Kim and Danny went to Danny's little brother's high school graduation down in North Hollywood. Hector, the one that bought Dave's Mustang and Danny's little brother, had dropped out of high school a little while ago and the family really worked on him to go back and get his diploma. Needless to say everyone is very proud of him and Kim and Danny really had to be there to celebrate with the family, so Dave and I baby sat their dogs, our grand dogs, Ha Ha. We are so nice that we feed them and by 8 pm we locked them in the kitchen/den and Dave, Valley and I drove back to our motor home to get a good nights sleep. I would have stayed but when I'm there the 3 dogs don't leave me alone and it drives Dave crazy. Where I am the 3 dogs are, so needless to say, when I'm working with Dave he not only has me he also has 3 dogs in the middle of everything. The other day he even yelled at the dogs saying they didn't need to follow me where ever I go, I told him jealousy is an ugly thing, Ha Ha.

Anyway back to the construction, Kim, Danny, Fernando, Vivian, Karla, and Jessica (Danny's sister, brother in law, and niece's) drove back Saturday morning to begin the tile work again. Vivian is 8 1/2 months pregnant and they don't have air conditioning in North Hollywood so thank goodness Kim has air conditioning other wise the temps were 105 and she probably would have had the baby this weekend. Fernando, Danny and Dave worked on the tile work in the master bath, and in the afternoon Kim took Vivian and the girls back to our motor home and went to the pool at our place, I hung around incase the guys needed anything, plus I wasn't going to the pool it was much cooler in the house.

Saturday night about 6:30 Dave and I took off for the Bakersfield Speedway again, getting hooked on these car races. We got back to Kim's to pick up Valley about 10:45 pm and everyone was in bed. Danny and Fernando worked till about 9:00 pm then Kim and Danny went and picked up dinner for them. Kim did go earlier and got dinner for the girls. Danny said they were on a roll and didn't want to quit working.

We went back at 9:00 am on Sunday morning and Kim had made breakfast for everyone then it was back to work again. The guys didn't quit until almost 5:00 pm Sunday night, it's a lot of tile work and Danny and Dave are going to work a little during the week on it, but Fernando will be up again next weekend and hopefully will knock out another big chunk of it, but then what do I know, it could be all of it, but I don't think so. After the floors, shower, and walls Fernando is also doing the counter top which is almost 9 feet long.

Moveing on to something else, Kim has school from 5:30 to 9:30 on Monday and Wednesday nights, so we invited Danny to come to our house after he got off work for dinner. Kim thought she might get out of school early and would come by, anyway, we BBQ'ed chicken and asparagus and had a nice dinner. It was a nice break for Danny because, I think, since we have been here he hasn't had a day off without working with us on the construction on the house. He swears we have been here for at least two months now or longer, just kidding I think. Kim called and wasn't going to be able to make it so after dinner and clean up we decided to go to the casino, Danny finally talked me into it. He is really hooked on Texas Hold'em and Dave has gone a few times with him and lately I have been watching it on TV. So we went to the casino and Danny sat behind me trying to help me, talk about shit cards, 3-5, 2-6 ect. When I finally got a "jack" I decided to bet, I lost my ass because everyone knew I had a "jack" when the flop came because it was the 1st time I could play. I started with $40.00 and when I was down to $4.00 I went all in and finally won, but the money didn't last long, but it was fun. I was so nervous sitting with about 8 guys that knew what they were doing. Needless to say I'm going to start practicing on line now to try and get better, but I know I won't get hooked, because Dave works to hard for his money, I used to say that I worked to hard for my money, but I'm unemployed now, so I really work to hard for my unemployment.

I think I have written enough, better save something for next week.
Love to all.

It's been 2 weeks now of construction and things seemed to have slowed down. I guess that always happens because now we are waiting for the contractors to show up and do their thing. Of course the contractors that we hired work their normal day jobs and can only either work a couple hours a day or can only work weekends. The electrician will finish today, Tuesday, then this weekend the drywaller will show up to do his thing. Plus, Danny's brother in law will be here this weekend to start on the tile work for the shower and bathroom. Danny finished the grout work on the entry way at the front door last night.

Last Sunday was Father's day, for those of you who are Fathers, Happy belated Father's Day. Saturday Dave had a massage, a gift from Kim and David Jr. then we went to Bakersfield Speedway for car racing. It was on a 1/3 mile high banked clay oval track, it was a lot of fun but boy was it dirty. There were American Stocks, Mini Stocks, Jr. Mini Stocks and Late Models, needless to say, on that kind of track you don't sit near the fence, dirt and hard chucks of mud are flying when they are going around the track. They keep watering down the track which helps but the second to the last race we were covered in dirt. You had to keep your glasses on just to be able to see anything, because of the dirt in your eyes, my black purse was white when we left. The bleachers are cement slabs so needless to say next time we need to bring folding chairs, my ass is still sore even with all the padding I have.

Last Wednesday, June 14th, we had to drive to Chatsworth because my last employer was trying to say I didn't qualify for unemployment because I said I was going to stop working, fulltime, as of the end of April so they fired me as of March 15th. Unemployment didn't agree with them but agreed to a court hearing, well needless to say they didn't show up, again, just like they didn't show up for the hearing about the vacation time they are trying to screw me out of. That court date, with the Labor Board defending me is in July, boy are they stupid, you don't want to mess with the labor board.

Been having trouble with the email, hopefully Dave has it fixed now, so use jeri@altonsystems.com but I guess when I send an email it shows jerialton@altonsys.net either one should work.

That's it for now, will write again next week, miss everyone, please keep in touch.

Hi all,

We left Simi Valley on Sunday June 4th around 11:00 am and headed up to Bakersfield. We didn't hook up the car so Valley and Dave were in the Motor Home and I followed in the Envoy. We got to our Motor Home park around 1pm and started setting up, we are staying at "A Country RV Park" in Bakersfield. It's pretty nice, it has a pool and spa, laundry room ect, and it's really full.

We had to take a weekly spot for the first week tomorrow we move to a monthly spot, which means that we get billed separately for electricity but the monthly rate is cheaper then the weekly rates. We don't move far just across the street.

Anyway, after we got here on Sunday we went to lunch/dinner with Danny at Kim's restaurant because she was working. We took Danny back home and came back to the Motor Home because Dave needed to setup the computers, after all we had been without them for 2 days and I think we were both having withdrawal symptoms. Dave worked until about 8 pm and never got them going, but in the mean time Kim and Danny drove over to our place in the truck, Kim wanted to show us that she was learning how to drive a stick but of course she didn't drive on the freeway, she just drove to the freeway then Danny took over. When they got off the freeway, Danny pulled over and Kim drove into the trailer park to show us she could drive the pickup now, kind of anyway.

Monday Dave worked on getting the computers hooked up and it finally worked. So we can update this blog and get our email (Our preferred email addresses are jeri@altonsystems.com and dave@altonsystems.com).

Then Dave made out the plan on starting the construction work at Kim's house. Tuesday we started the demo work, and when we started in the bathroom Dave tried to turn off the water, which he kind of could, so we could tear out the bathroom counter and sink. Before we took out the shower he wanted to shut the main line off but couldn't find it. He called Calif. Water and he was told there is no meter because the water is a set rate so they would have to come out and shut the water off. Dave made an appointment for 5 pm that night. We had gotten a dumpster and I was doing demo work and filling it when all of a sudden I heard water running and looked around the dumpster and saw water shooting out of the side of Kim's house and flooding the frontyard. I ran in the house and told Dave, he was on the phone, on hold, with Calif. Water he was digging around the pipe when the main line busted. I was calling a plumber while he was on hold, we finally got thru to both to tell them about the emergency, Calif Water was there in about 15 min. then the plumber showed up about 20 min. later. Calif Water couldn't find the main line to shut the water off, this guy was digging up about 3 other house's lawns, the neightbors were not to happy. Dave was having a fit because we were paying the plumber $108.00 an hour to fix the pipe but he couldn't do anything until the water was shut off. Calif Water ended up shutting the water off for the whole block for about an hour so the plumber could cap the line off. Kim's next door neightbors were pissed plus so was the whole block I'm sure.

Needless to say Kim's water was shut off until everyone could come back on Wed. So Kim and Danny had to stay at our house on Tuesday night and we left her dogs at the house. Wed. everything got fixed and we went back to demo work. On Wednesday and Thursday we got the rest of the demo work done plus some demo work we hadn't planned on, Kim asked for a few more things and of course Daddy's little girl gets what she wants. We ended up tearing out the Living Room carpet and office carpet to put in wood flooring, or want looks like wood flooring from Costco. Danny's brother-in-law, Fernando, came up on Friday morning to help. He and Dave put in the wood flooring in the office and Living Room. Fernando spent the night and today he and Danny put in the tile flooring in the entryway, that took all day and they didn't even get finished, so tomorrow Danny and Dave will do the boarder around the entryway, everything looks great though.

Friday we also had the shower hot mopped while the flooring was going in. When the plumber came out on the emergency call and then came back the next day we hired him, on the side, to come out and do the plumbing for us in the bathrooms. He will be out next Saturday to do the new plumbing work we need done, now all we need to find is an electrician. Fernando will be here to do the tile work for the bathroom and shower the following weekend. So as long as Dave doesn't break anymore things and Kim doesn't ask for anymore things we should be ahead of schedule, behind in budget but ahead of schedule.

Maybe next month we will be able to talk about travels instead or remodels. Keep checking here for updates on what we are up to. Will keep everyone informed, bye for now.
