October 5, 2006 We are now at Turquoise Trail Campground and RV Park we got here on the 4th in the afternoon. We will only be here for 2 days then we head for the field on the Balloon Festival. Dave said we would just dry camp for the two days but I was beginning to wonder if we were going to find a spot to dry camp in because we couldn't find any level site. They first put us in front of the cabins that they rent out, no good. We backed up with the slides open and tried to get level, not. Then we asked if they had any other spots and they said just one more. It's in front of the park in the bus parking spot. It took us forever to get level, one spot the back tires were off the ground, another spot I thought we were going to tip over, then we finally found a spot but then the satellite dish didn't work, one damn tree on the space and we finally get level and the dish points right at the tree. We finally had the back of the RV almost back on the road when we got level and satellite dishes to work. They have this Museum here in front of the park and schools will bring the kids here for outings, but it's still a gravel road and not level. It is a Museum of Archaeology & material culture, sounds fun, right? They even advertise-visit a 12,000 year time-line from North America's earliest inhabitants through The Battle of Wounded Knee. That still doesn't strike my interest. This place is dirt and gravel the driveway from the highway was all dirt and gravel. The people that work here are very friendly and helpful they are going out of their way to accommodate us. The spot they saved for us for the 10th, spot 22, has a tree there that they need to trim and they said the owner of the park won't let them cut or trim any trees. We told them that spot 24 would work so they said they will ask the people in spot 24 to move to spot 22 on the 10th. The RV park also has a petting zoo, with a goat, pigeons, and a llama, everything that I would like to pet. Anyway, it will do for the rest of the Balloon Festival because we only have Friday thru Monday that we are actually on the festival grounds. We won't be staying past the 16th, we had planned on being in Albuquerque for the whole month of October but now we don't think so. We decided we would head to Cottonwood Arizona and check out our rental units there before ending up in Lake Havasu.
This morning so far Dave and I took Valley for a long walk then Dave had conference calls to make. Haven't decided what to do the rest of the day yet. Will let you know next time on the blog update.
