Catch up time before we hit Bakersfield

Boy, we sure hated to leave the beautiful spot on the Priest River but after 2 1/2 weeks it was time to move on. We drove to and spent the 4th on the John Day Dam on the Columbia River. The next morning Dave and I headed out for Elkton Oregon to visit with Marty, Bob and Jackie were headed for La Pine Oregon.
Didn't get to see much of Marty, besides cooking at the restaurant, he was also catering a wine/music thing that one of the winery's was having. Saturday he ended up in the emergency room with a bad fungus on his hands. They were twice the normal size and covered in blisters, thank goodness I wasn't at the catered meal.lol After breakfast, at Marty's restaurant, Dave and I headed out for La Pine to meet up with Bob, Jackie, Bob and Sandy. (Jackie's sister and brother in law) Monday Dave and I drove into Bend and had pedicures and I also had my nails done. The guy doing my nails gave us all kinds of hints of things to see around town. They have this park there that has a river running through it and people go to the top of this river and ride their floats down. At the bottom is a bus waiting to pick them up and take them back to the top again, looked like a lot of fun. Needed more then 1 day in Bend, will have to go back next year and really check out the place.
Tuesday we all headed out, met up with Lou and Sharon, and went into the FMCA Rally. For the next 3 days we went to all kinds of different seminars, viewed new and used coaches, did RV stuff shopping and saw some good entertainment. There were actually 2 seminars that Dave and I learned a lot from. One was winkle free laundry for those that have the washer/dryer combo in your coach. Found out we have been using too much detergent and not having it full enough when we are washing. The other was Fire/Driving Safety, we didn't know you shouldn't drive with your propane on. We found out we should have a minimum of 5 fire extinguishers with us, plus things you need to hold open our escape windows in case of a fire. Best Rally I think I have ever been to. Enough rally stuff.
Dave and I left Saturday afternoon and drove through Crater Lake Nat. Park, beautiful drive but very small roads with big drop offs. Wouldn't do it again with the rig and tow vehicle. We stopped for the night at the Fairgrounds in Klamath Falls. Sunday we got to the 1000 Trails in Nicolaus California, about 20 miles, I think, from Sacramento.
Today, Monday, we headed for Marysville to meet up with a friend of Dave's who he knew when he was growing up in his later teen years. Boy, we thought my brother Marty lived at the top of a hill, this house we went to put Marty's drive to his house look like child play. Plus, what a view.
Tomorrow we head for Citrus Heights to visit with Dave's Aunt, who is going to be 92 this Thursday. Now debating if we are going to leave Wednesday or Thursday for Bakersfield. That's about it, all caught up again.

AUGUST 2, 2010 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTY

It's been almost 3 weeks since the last blog, guess it's time for an update.
Finally got back in touch with the doctor, about the blood/urine test and she said we could wait until we get to Bakersfield, to do follow up, since we will be there for a month. We got back on the road 7/13 and stopped in Omak Washington, at a Wal-Mart. On the drive 3 deer came running down the mountain side, luckily we were driving pretty slow and managed to not hit them. The next day we drove to the Elk's Lodge in Spokane, WA. and again a deer ran right in front of us and Dave managed to stop, I thought for sure we were going to hit it. Of course everything in the back of the RV was then in the front of the RV.
Bob and Jackie met up with us on the 15th. We stayed 2 more days in Spokane then headed to Gary, Alana, and Christy's house right on the Priest River. We got both RV's parked right behind their house/garage where we have a view of the lake in front of us. Late in the afternoon the guys, Gary and Bob, put Gary's boat into the water and tied it to the dock. We set up chairs and relaxed enjoying watching people in their boats tubing and water ski's. The ladies went in to start dinner and the next thing we know Gary got his truck real fast and they were pulling the boat out. One of the neighbors were going by in their boat and yelled out to Gary that his boat was sinking, he forgot to put the plug in. Once the boat was out it seemed like it drained forever. I don't know what damage it did but the guys keep working on it and it hasn't been back in the water yet. The boat is over 20 years old but doesn't have that many hours on the water. Gary was having some trouble with one of the Sea Doo's but I think they got that all fixed. The guys have also been helping Gary put up dry wall in the house that is being built. They even managed to put together a working bathroom in time for Christy's birthday party this past weekend.
One day Alana, Christy, Jackie and I left at 9:30 in the morning to go into down town Spokane, we didn't get back until 11:00 p.m. we did running around and 1 stop was at the casino where we had some play time. All of us won on the slot machine, not a lot but at least we won.
I've been trying to get out and walk around but there isn't much room on the country roads. One day I was gone for 2 1/2 hours, walked over 8 miles boy Dave was upset for me being gone so long. He doesn't like the roads around here.
Saturday and Sunday we celebrated Christy's birthday. Lots of people came by for the BBQ, steaks on Saturday, chicken and left over salads on Sunday. Late in the afternoon I went out on the Sea Doo with Dave and we managed to suck up this green grass stuff and the Sea Doo wouldn't do anything but idol so we manage to idol back to the house. They had to pull it out of the water and pull all that crap out of the prop. Later I went out again with John and it was a lot of fun. Candy and John even took Christy out on the Sea Doo, Christy loved it. Dave tried to ski and almost got up, he actually needed a different pair of ski's he was using 2 slaloms, that's all
Gary had.
Today we are headed out to either Priest Lake or Coeur d'Alene the weather is suppose to be in the 80"s again.
We all get back on the road August 4th, will really hate leaving this place but planning on coming back next year.
